1997 Nissan Micra 1.3L Petrol · R663 EGJ

The roadworthiness verdict for this Nissan Micra is exceptionally strong, supported by an improving maintenance trend that culminates in a clean pass on 2024-09-27 with zero defects recorded. The previous two annual tests in September 2022 and September 2023 also resulted in clean passes following initial same-day failure rectifications, though the specific reasons for those initial refusals were left blank on the digital record. This pattern indicates that the vehicle has been reliably presented for testing and successfully cleared of any preliminary hurdles without lingering deferred defects. With a recorded mileage of 86,736 miles across its twenty-nine-year lifespan, the vehicle averages approximately 2,991 miles annually, reflecting very light use or extended periods of standing. The MOT data shows remarkable consistency in mileage accumulation between consecutive September tests, meaning the car has not suffered from prolonged abandonment despite the low overall annual average. This sparse defect history suggests previous owners maintained basic roadworthiness diligently, though low-mileage vehicles of this vintage require careful scrutiny for age-related degradation. A physical inspection must prioritize the structural integrity of the chassis and sills, as 1990s Japanese hatchbacks are notoriously susceptible to hidden corrosion despite clean test passes. Buyers should thoroughly inspect the brake lines, suspension bushes, and coil springs for perishing or rust, given that rubber components degrade over decades regardless of mileage. Check the exhaust system and subframes on a ramp to confirm that the absence of recent MOT advisories reflects genuine solid metal rather than superficial cosmetic cover-ups.
