2013 Vauxhall Mokka 1.6L Petrol · RK63 ACX

The vehicle presents a worsening maintenance trend characterized by recurring mechanical issues and a failure to address underlying faults. While the most recent test on 2 September 2025 at 111,584 miles resulted in a pass, the vehicle failed just moments prior at 111,579 miles due to deteriorated ball joint dust covers on the offside front suspension arm and nearside track rod end. The tester also noted persistent issues that have remained unresolved since previous tests, specifically a minor exhaust gas leak from the front flex pipe and an oil leak that, while not currently excessive, has been flagged consistently since at least 2023. The mileage accumulation is consistent with a typical usage pattern for a 13-year-old vehicle, averaging approximately 8,583 miles per year. The record shows steady progression from 12,157 miles in 2016 to the current 111,584 miles in 2025. There are no significant gaps in the testing history, suggesting the vehicle has been in regular use. However, the increasing frequency of advisories and failures in recent years indicates that the vehicle is entering a phase of higher maintenance requirements as components reach the end of their service life. A prospective buyer should focus heavily on the suspension and steering systems. The MOT history shows a pattern of deteriorating dust covers on track rod ends and suspension arms, and the 2025 test specifically identified play in both front top mounts. These issues suggest that the front-end geometry and component longevity are compromised. The recurring exhaust leak at the front flex pipe and the long-standing oil leak require physical inspection to determine if they are minor seepage or signs of more significant gasket or manifold failure. Brake maintenance also requires scrutiny. The 2024 test at 108,173 miles flagged thin inner pads on both rear brakes and a smooth brake pedal, which could indicate a need for master cylinder or pedal assembly attention. Given the history of worn tyres and brake pads appearing across multiple years, a thorough check of the braking system, including disc thickness and caliper condition, is necessary to ensure the vehicle meets safety standards beyond the minimum MOT requirements.
