2012 Renault Megane 1.6L Petrol · SK12 AKO

The most recent MOT test on 2025-12-16 confirms the vehicle passed without defects at 85,010 miles, maintaining a consistent pattern of compliance over the past two years. Despite two consecutive failures in late 2023 and early 2024—both at roughly 70,000 miles—the vehicle has since demonstrated stability, passing every subsequent test on time. The absence of recurring advisories or defects in the latest tests suggests the owner addressed any underlying issues promptly, though the repeated failures in 2023–2024 warrant scrutiny of components prone to wear at this mileage. The recorded mileage progression of approximately 6,072 miles annually aligns with typical usage for a vehicle of this age. There are no extended gaps or unusually rapid mileage jumps, though the two failures clustered around 70,000 miles—just three days apart—could indicate a temporary oversight rather than a pattern. The most recent test was conducted just seven months ago, which is well within the standard 12-month MOT cycle, though it remains prudent to verify the vehicle’s condition since then. Given the history, a buyer should prioritise a thorough inspection of the braking system, particularly the rear calipers and pads, as binding brakes were likely the cause of the 2023 failures. The suspension, including coil springs and bushes, should also be examined for uneven wear or corrosion, especially if the vehicle has experienced wet or salted roads. Structural integrity, particularly around the wheel arches and sills, must be checked for rust penetration, as this age and mileage increase vulnerability. Finally, the exhaust system and emissions components should be inspected for leaks or damage, as these are common failure points in Renault Megane models of this era.
