2000 Nissan Micra 1.3L Petrol · W284 JBR

The 2000 Nissan Micra’s most recent MOT on 2023-02-27 at 68,986 miles resulted in a failure, though no defects were recorded. This follows a pattern of repeated failures in 2022 and 2021, all without recorded issues. The lack of specific defects in these tests suggests either procedural inconsistencies or unreported mechanical concerns. While the vehicle passed in 2022-02-09 at 63,555 miles, the recurring failures indicate an unstable maintenance history. The absence of documented faults does not confirm roadworthiness, as the car’s mechanical integrity remains unverified by the DVSA records. The vehicle’s mileage of 68,986 miles over 26 years equates to an average of 2,653 miles annually, significantly lower than typical usage. This suggests prolonged periods of inactivity, which can accelerate corrosion, rubber degradation, and electrical system faults. Notably, the 2021-02-26 failure at 59,778 miles occurred just a week after a pass at 59,780 miles, highlighting erratic testing patterns. The sparse data—only five MOT entries over 14 years—limits insight into long-term maintenance trends, though the low mileage raises questions about the car’s operational history. A buyer should prioritize a hands-on inspection of suspension components, particularly suspension bushes and coil springs, given the low mileage’s potential to mask wear. The absence of brake-related defects in MOT records does not eliminate the need to check for binding calipers or uneven brake disc wear, which could arise from infrequent use. Structural corrosion, especially in the underbody or chassis, warrants scrutiny, as low-mileage vehicles are prone to rust if stored in damp conditions. The repeated MOT failures, despite no recorded issues, underscore the importance of a professional mechanical assessment before purchase.
