2000 Ford Mondeo 2.0L Petrol · W648 AHJ

The vehicle demonstrates a stable roadworthiness trend, having secured clean passes in both the March 2022 and March 2023 MOT tests. The absence of recorded defects or advisories across these consecutive inspections indicates that the vehicle was in sound mechanical condition as of its last assessment. However, the lack of an MOT record since March 2023 means the vehicle has been without a valid test certificate for over three years, necessitating a thorough re-evaluation of its current state. The recorded mileage of 32,577 miles over a 26-year lifespan is exceptionally low, averaging approximately 1,253 miles per annum. While this suggests limited usage, the significant gap in testing since March 2023 raises concerns regarding prolonged periods of inactivity. Vehicles left standing for extended durations often suffer from fuel degradation, seized brake calipers, and perished rubber components, which may not have been captured by the last inspection. Prospective buyers must prioritise a comprehensive inspection of the vehicle's structural integrity, specifically focusing on subframes, sills, and floor pans for corrosion that may have developed during the extended storage period. You should also inspect all rubber suspension bushes and gaiters, as these components often deteriorate due to age rather than mechanical wear. Verify the condition of the brake discs and pads for surface oxidation, and ensure the engine cooling system and fuel lines are free from leaks before attempting to return the vehicle to the road.
