2008 Mercedes Unknown 4.2L Diesel · WX08 AYJ

The vehicle holds a valid pass from its most recent MOT test on 1 April 2026 at 179,442 miles, with no defects recorded. The overall maintenance trend appears stable, moving from a pattern of intermittent failures in 2021 and 2022 to consecutive clean passes in 2022, 2025, and 2026. The April 2025 test also recorded a pass with no defects, though the mileage logged at 371,657 miles stands in direct contradiction to the current odometer reading of 179,442 miles and the November 2022 reading of 170,215 miles, indicating a likely data entry error in the historical record rather than a genuine mechanical state. The current mileage of 179,442 miles over 18 years equates to roughly 9,969 miles per year, consistent with typical age-appropriate usage for a vehicle of this era. The gap between the November 2022 test at 170,215 miles and the April 2026 test at 179,442 miles spans 3.4 years and covers only 9,227 miles, reflecting very low annual mileage in recent ownership. Earlier records show a rapid accumulation from 135,318 miles in November 2021 to 170,215 miles in November 2022, a gain of 34,897 miles in twelve months, which may indicate a period of heavier use or a discrepancy in the recorded data. A buyer should pay close attention to the rear suspension, as the 2021 failure specifically identified excessively worn anti-roll bar linkage pins and bushes at both rear lower corners, with additional wear noted on the rear anti-roll bar bushes. The 2022 failure history includes a non-functional speedometer, failed windscreen wipers, non-working offside indicators, incorrect nearside headlamp aim, and emergency exit door operation failures from both inside and outside, pointing to prior neglect of lighting, visibility, and door mechanism systems. Given the clean recent passes, these items should have been rectified, but a physical inspection must verify that the rear anti-roll bar bushes and linkage pins have been replaced, the emergency exit door operates correctly, and the headlamp aim remains accurate.
