The vehicle remains roadworthy but the maintenance trend shows signs of degradation regarding structural integrity and mechanical efficiency. The most recent test in July 2025 at 205,287 miles identified corrosion on both the front and rear sub-frames and a minor leak in the rear exhaust. While the corrosion was not deemed seriously weakened, the presence of heavy undersealing suggests the owner attempted to mask surface rust. This marks a shift from previous years which focused on consumable wear to more significant structural concerns. At 24 years old, the recorded 205,287 miles represent an average usage of approximately 8,550 miles per year, which is consistent with typical UK figures for this age. There is a notable gap in data between January 2021 and September 2023, where the car covered over 25,000 miles in two years. Since then, the accumulation has slowed to roughly 11,000 miles per year. The consistent use over two decades has placed high stress on the drivetrain and suspension components, as reflected in the recurring issues noted across the record. A buyer must conduct a thorough physical inspection of the underbody to assess the sub-frame corrosion, as heavy undersealing can hide deep structural thinning. The braking system shows a history of neglect, with pitted front discs noted in 2021 and 2023, and imbalanced rear brakes that only just met legal requirements recently. The buyer should check the calipers for binding and ensure the rear adjustment is effective. Furthermore, the oil leak reported in 2023 should be monitored to ensure it has not worsened into a significant environmental hazard, as it has not been mentioned in subsequent tests.
