355 RXN MOT History
Interpretation generated from the recorded test data above — not an official DVSA statement and not a substitute for an independent inspection.
20 MOT tests are recorded for this 1994 Ferrari F355 (355 RXN) between March 2007 and April 2026.
The record contains 18 passes and 2 failures.
The most recent test on 10 April 2026 was a pass, although the earlier record includes 2 failures that buyers may want to investigate.
Across all tests, the most frequently flagged areas are: Brakes (3 issues), Suspension (3 issues), Lighting (2 issues), Bodywork (2 issues), Tyres (1 issue). Repeated mentions in one area can indicate an ongoing pattern worth checking in person.
In total 8 advisory notices are recorded. Advisories flag items that passed but may need attention before the next test; they are not evidence of how well the vehicle has been serviced.
Recorded failure items include: “Exhaust emissions carbon monoxide content after 2nd fast idle excessive (7.3.D.3)”; “Offside Registration plate lamp not working (1.1.5c)”; “Nearside Registration plate lamp not working (1.1.5c)”.

Known faults for Ferrari Ferrari F355 Berlinetta / GTS / Spider
Our database tracks 4 specific mechanical faults and recurring failure patterns identified across UK MOT testing stations for this generation.
MOT Roadworthiness: Good
This rating reflects historical MOT pass rates and recurring advisory wear patterns from official DVSA test logs. Note that roadworthiness does not verify outstanding finance, insurance write-offs, or stolen records.
Verify lender finance agreements, insurance write-offs, police stolen registers, and mileage rollback.
Common Problems: FERRARI F355
Known issues reported by owners and MOT testers.
- Cam belt overdue and catastrophic engine damage(Serious)
The F355's 3.5-litre V8 is an interference engine, and Ferrari requires the cam belts, tensioners and ancillary services to be renewed every three years or 30,000 miles, regardless of how few miles the car has covered. Because the engine and transaxle must be removed to access the belts, the job is labour-intensive and easily deferred. A snapped belt causes piston-to-valve contact and catastrophic engine failure, so cars without a documented belt change within the interval are a major risk.
- Cracked exhaust manifolds(Serious)
The factory F355 exhaust manifolds are thin-walled and prone to cracking with heat cycling, typically becoming apparent from around 25,000 to 40,000 miles. Cracks leak exhaust gases and, if ignored, can draw white residue into the engine bay and damage nearby components; once one side fails, the other usually follows shortly after. A ticking or exhaust-leak noise on cold start that fades as the engine warms is the classic warning. Replacement with original-pattern parts is expensive, so many cars have already been fitted with aftermarket headers.
- Valve guide wear and oil burning(Moderate)
The F355's 40-valve V8 uses valve guides that can wear, allowing oil into the combustion chambers and causing poor compression and oil burning. Ferrari estimated around a fifth of 1995 model-year cars could be affected, and a suspect batch also appeared in 1997–1998 cars, so the fault is not confined to very early examples. Blue smoke on overrun, oily spark plugs and a compression test reveal the problem, and renewing the guides requires cylinder-head work.
- Rear buttress and rear wing corrosion(Moderate)
On Berlinetta and GTS (targa) models, the seam where the rear buttresses meet the rear wings flexes over time and cracks, admitting moisture between the aluminium and steel panels. Corrosion can be extensive under the paint and is often only revealed during a respray. Most cars show some degree of cracking in this area. Inspect the buttress-to-wing joints, rear wings and sills with a torch, and ask whether any repairs have been carried out.
