2009 Honda Civic 2.2L Diesel · A4 DSH

The 2009 Honda Civic presents as roadworthy following a pass at the January 2026 test, recorded at 74,070 miles with no defects listed. The maintenance trend is stable across the five-year MOT window, showing no recurring advisories or mechanical failures. A failed test on 13 January 2026 at 74,068 miles preceded the same-day pass, though the record logs no defects for either entry, suggesting an administrative rejection rather than a fault-driven failure. Mileage sits low for a seventeen-year-old vehicle. The odometer moved from 68,987 miles at the January 2023 test to 71,321 in January 2024, then 73,022 in January 2025, reaching 74,070 by January 2026. That equates to roughly 1,700 miles per year over the period, well under the 4,357 annual average implied by total age and distance. The sparse, clean record shows no gaps or sudden accumulation, indicating light use with consistent yearly testing. The absence of flagged corrosion, suspension bushes, brake discs, or exhaust emissions issues implies the previous owner kept basic upkeep current. Low standing mileage can still mask perished rubber components and structural rust beneath sills or subframes not visible during a no-defect test. A buyer should physically inspect coil springs, binding calipers, and underbody structural integrity for hidden corrosion. Confirm tyre sidewall condition and wiper blade wear, as these consumables degrade with time regardless of low miles. The same-day fail-pass warrants a check of the DVSA failure reason to rule out a missed defect.
