The latest official DVSA record for this vehicle is a pass from August 2006, which is an alarmingly outdated entry for a vehicle being considered in 2026. There is no recent data to establish a maintenance trend, meaning the current roadworthiness is entirely undocumented. A prospective buyer must treat this as a vehicle with an unknown mechanical status, as there has been no official inspection of its structural integrity, braking efficiency, or exhaust emissions for two decades. With a recorded mileage of 67,019 miles over 43 years, the motorcycle has averaged approximately 1,559 miles per year. While this suggests the drivetrain has not been excessively stressed by high mileage, such low annual usage often indicates long periods of dormancy. This pattern of standing is frequently more detrimental to a vintage machine than consistent use, as it leads to the stagnation of lubricants and the degradation of rubber components throughout the chassis and engine. Given the lack of recent MOT data and the likelihood of long-term storage, a rigorous physical inspection is mandatory. Priority must be given to the tyres, checking for sidewall cracking and perishing that occurs with age regardless of remaining tread. The braking system requires close scrutiny for binding calipers and corrosion on the brake discs, which can occur when a vehicle sits idle. The electrical system, specifically the 12V battery and wiring loom, should be tested for voltage stability and corrosion at the terminals. Mechanical attention should focus on time-based fluid degradation. The engine oil, brake fluid, and fuel system must be inspected for contamination or varnish, as old fuel can clog carburettors and corrode tank internals. Inspect the front fork seals for leaks and check the condition of all suspension bushes for dry rot. Finally, the buyer should demand a comprehensive service history or a current valid MOT certificate to verify that the vehicle has been maintained according to manufacturer specifications during the twenty-year gap in official records.
