2017 Honda MSX 0.1L Petrol · A8 XEJ

The vehicle maintains a stable roadworthiness status with a clean MOT record following a minor mechanical failure. The most recent test on 1 July 2025 at 1,460 miles passed with no defects or advisories recorded, indicating that the mechanical and safety components currently meet minimum standards. This follows a period of clean passes over the previous years, suggesting the vehicle remains in good condition. The mileage pattern is exceptionally low for a nine-year-old motorcycle, averaging approximately 162 miles per year. Between March 2022 at 1,437 miles and July 2025 at 1,460 miles, the bike covered only 23 miles over three years. This data confirms the vehicle sits for long periods without being used. While low mileage reduces wear on the drivetrain and suspension components, it often introduces risks related to rubber degradation, fluid breakdown, and surface corrosion that an MOT test may not fully capture. A buyer should specifically inspect the drive chain and sprockets, as the vehicle failed in October 2020 at 1,370 miles due to an excessively loose chain. Although this was rectified, low-use vehicles often suffer from dry seals or seized calipers due to lack of operation. Check the tyres for flat spotting or sidewall cracking and verify that the brake discs are free of heavy pitting. Given the long intervals between use, ensure the engine oil and fluids have been changed annually regardless of mileage to prevent internal corrosion from moisture buildup.
