2016 Mercedes-Benz A-Class 2.1L Diesel · AB51 FLB

The 2016 Mercedes-Benz A-Class demonstrates a highly stable maintenance trend, passing its last five consecutive MOT tests without recording a single defect or advisory. The most recent examination on 7 November 2025 at 81,378 miles returned a completely clean bill of health, reflecting diligent preventative care and the absence of immediate mechanical or structural faults. The mileage accumulation remains remarkably consistent and typical for a ten-year-old vehicle. Between the December 2021 test at 53,889 miles and the November 2025 test at 81,378 miles, the car covered roughly 27,489 miles over four years, averaging approximately 6,872 miles annually. The yearly increments show steady usage, stepping from 53,889 miles in 2021 to 63,996 miles in 2022, 70,814 miles in 2023, 75,998 miles in 2024, and 81,378 miles in 2025. This gradual progression indicates regular, consistent use rather than prolonged periods of inactivity or high-mileage fleet driving. Despite the flawless MOT record, a pre-purchase inspection must account for the natural wear associated with a decade of use. A buyer should physically examine the suspension components, specifically the front lower arm bushes and rear trailing arm links, which commonly deteriorate on the A-Class platform around this mileage. Brake disc thickness and pad life require verification, as consumable wear does not always trigger an MOT failure until critical. Underbody corrosion should be inspected carefully, particularly around the subframes and suspension mounting points, alongside a thorough check of the tyre sidewalls for age-related cracking, given the vehicle is now ten years old.
