2012 Land Rover Discovery 3.0L Diesel · AB58 JOE

The Discovery presents a current roadworthiness status that is valid but historically irregular. The most recent test on 22 December 2021 at 134,496 miles returned a pass with no defects recorded, yet on the very same date the vehicle first failed at 134,488 miles with no defects logged, indicating an administrative or data-entry failure rather than a mechanical fault. The maintenance trend cannot be judged as stable, worsening, or improving from this record because only one calendar year of entries exists and both tests occurred on a single day. The recorded mileage of 134,496 against a 2012 build gives an average of roughly 9,600 miles per year, which is typical for a vehicle of this age. The MOT history shows no progression of mileage between tests because the failed and passed entries are dated identically, and there is a gap of over four years to the present date of 8 July 2026. Such a sparse record with a long lapse since the last test means the current mechanical condition is unverified by DVSA data. A buyer should commission an independent inspection before purchase. The absence of advisories in the December 2021 pass does not preclude worn suspension bushes, degraded coil springs, or corroding brake lines that a four-year standstill or light use may have concealed. Land Rover Discoveries of this era are prone to chassis corrosion and active driveline faults that a single clean test cannot rule out. Given the same-day fail and pass with zero defects, previous ownership likely involved a rushed renewal rather than neglected upkeep. The lack of any recorded tyre, exhaust, or structural issues is reassuring on paper, but the elapsed time since testing means tyres, discs, and underbody integrity must be physically assessed.
