2009 Volkswagen EOS 2.0L Petrol · AD09 YCO

The 2009 Volkswagen EOS presents a stable, albeit severely outdated, maintenance trend based on the available DVSA records. The most recent examination on 23 January 2023 at 56,961 miles passed without a single defect, mirroring the clean pass recorded on 21 January 2022 at 49,055 miles. A minor anomaly occurred on 19 January 2023 at 56,957 miles when the vehicle failed with no defects listed, likely indicating an incomplete test or an administrative rejection, as it passed cleanly just four days later. Crucially, the current MOT certificate expired over three and a half years ago, meaning the car currently holds no valid roadworthiness certification as of July 2026. The mileage trajectory raises immediate questions about the vehicle's recent usage. Between January 2022 and January 2023, the odometer climbed from 49,055 miles to 56,961 miles, accumulating 7,906 miles in a single year. Yet, the recorded mileage has remained static at exactly 56,961 miles from January 2023 through to the present day in July 2026. For a vehicle averaging roughly 3,351 miles annually over its seventeen-year lifespan, this three-and-a-half-year stagnation strongly suggests the EOS has been standing idle for a considerable period. Prolonged stationary storage introduces risks that a standard MOT simply does not capture. A buyer must treat this vehicle as a long-term static unit requiring thorough mechanical vetting before any road use. Extended standing typically causes brake calipers to bind and brake discs to corrode unevenly, necessitating a close inspection of the braking system for surface rust and seized components. Suspension bushes and tyre sidewalls demand scrutiny for perishing and flat-spotting, as rubber degrades regardless of tread depth. The exhaust system and underbody require evaluation for structural corrosion, particularly given the lack of recent heat cycles to evaporate moisture. A fresh MOT test is mandatory, but a pre-purchase inspection focusing on these dormant-vehicle failure points remains essential.
