2009 Volkswagen Golf 2.0L Diesel · AF59 WBG

The vehicle currently holds a clean bill of health following its most recent MOT on 3 February 2026 at 134,030 miles. This pass, achieved just days after a failed attempt on 28 January 2026, indicates that any issues identified during the initial inspection were addressed promptly. The absence of advisories across the last four annual tests suggests a stable maintenance trend, reflecting a vehicle that has been kept in a roadworthy condition without the accumulation of recurring mechanical defects. At 134,030 miles over seventeen years, the vehicle averages approximately 7,884 miles per annum, which is consistent with typical light to moderate usage for a Volkswagen Golf of this vintage. The mileage progression remains steady, showing no evidence of long periods of inactivity or erratic usage spikes. The consistent increase in mileage between the 92,594 miles recorded in December 2022 and the current figure provides confidence that the drivetrain has remained in regular operation rather than suffering from the complications associated with prolonged storage. Prospective buyers should focus their physical inspection on the condition of high-wear components that are not always captured by the MOT test, specifically the clutch bite point and the dual-mass flywheel, which are common failure points for this model at this mileage. While the MOT history is exceptionally clean, it is essential to inspect the underside for surface corrosion on the subframes and brake lines, as these areas can deteriorate despite passing annual inspections. Verify the service history for evidence of timing belt replacement, as this is a critical maintenance item that falls outside the scope of the MOT but is vital for the continued reliability of the engine.
