2012 Fiat Ducato 2.3L Diesel · AG62 HDX

The 2012 Fiat Ducato presents a stable and improving maintenance trend, culminating in a fully clean pass on 21 May 2026 at 38,332 miles with zero defects recorded. That result follows a minor failure just two weeks earlier on 7 May 2026 at 38,329 miles, where the tester flagged a non-functioning nearside rear position lamp and a supplementary restraint system warning lamp indicating a fault. Both issues were evidently rectified promptly before the retest. The broader record is consistently strong, with clean passes recorded on 23 December 2024 at 32,791 miles, 24 January 2024 at 27,886 miles, and 6 December 2022 at 23,164 miles. No structural, mechanical, or braking defects have appeared across the entire documented history. The mileage profile is notably low for a vehicle of this age. Across approximately fourteen years, the odometer has advanced just 38,332 miles, averaging roughly 2,738 miles per year. The gaps between tests reinforce this pattern of light use: around 4,905 miles accumulated between January 2024 and December 2024, then approximately 5,541 miles over the following fourteen months to the May 2026 test. Such low annualisation suggests the Ducato has spent extended periods stationary, which carries its own considerations despite the favourable wear profile. Low-mileage commercial vehicles that stand idle for long spells can develop issues unrelated to wear. Brake calipers and discs are prone to surface corrosion and binding when a vehicle is not regularly driven. Rubber suspension bushes, tyres, and exhaust components can deteriorate from age rather than mileage. The SRS warning lamp flagged in May 2026, though resolved, warrants closer scrutiny. A buyer should have a diagnostic scan carried out to confirm no historic or intermittent fault codes remain stored in the airbag control module. The rear lighting circuit fault also justifies inspecting the wiring loom and connector blocks at the rear of the vehicle for moisture ingress or chafing, particularly if the van has been used for conversions or carried heavy rear loads. A physical inspection should focus on structural integrity beneath the vehicle, checking the chassis rails, outriggers, and load floor for corrosion. Despite the low mileage, a fourteen-year-old commercial platform demands attention to suspension coil springs, shock absorber condition, and front wishbone bushes. Tyre date codes should be verified, as rubber perishes with age regardless of remaining tread depth. The braking system deserves a road test to confirm no pulling, judder, or binding, especially given the extended periods of non-use implied by the mileage record. Overall, the MOT data paints a picture of a lightly used, well-maintained van, but the age and usage pattern mean a thorough pre-purchase inspection remains essential.
