2015 Audi A4 2.0L Diesel · AS11 XXS

Recurring issues with the exhaust mounting system and braking components define the mechanical profile of this Audi A4, with the most recent MOT passed on 30 September 2025 showing a persistent advisory for an insecure centre exhaust clamp. This specific defect has appeared in three consecutive tests since 2023, suggesting the exhaust system's structural integrity or its mounting hardware requires attention. Furthermore, the 2025 record notes a TPMS light and a traction control warning light that is not indicating a fault, which introduces electronic monitoring concerns alongside the mechanical exhaust issue. The vehicle has covered 95,691 miles over its eleven-year lifespan, representing an average annual accumulation of approximately 8,699 miles. This usage pattern is consistent with typical long-term driving rather than heavy commercial use or excessive short-distance trips. From a mechanical standpoint, this mileage level suggests that while the drivetrain may not be subject to extreme wear, components such as suspension bushes, shock absorbers, and braking systems are reaching the age and mileage where wear is frequently documented in the official records. A prospective buyer should pay close attention to the rear braking system and the exhaust assembly during a physical inspection. The MOT history shows a pattern of thinning brake pads and worn rear brake discs, with advisories recorded in both 2024 and 2023. On a test drive, listen for any grinding noises from the rear wheels or feel for any pulsations through the brake pedal, which could indicate disc thickness issues or binding calipers. The repeated advisory regarding the insecure centre exhaust clamp warrants a visual check of the mounting brackets and clamps to ensure the exhaust is not vibrating excessively or hanging low, which could lead to a major failure in future tests. Suspension and electronic warnings also require scrutiny based on the historical data. An advisory from 2021 noted light oil misting on the nearside rear shock absorber, so it is necessary to inspect the dampers for any signs of renewed leaking or loss of damping effectiveness, which would manifest as excessive bouncing or poor body control over bumps. Additionally, the presence of the TPMS and traction control advisories in the 2025 test means the dashboard warning lights should be monitored closely to ensure they do not transition from advisories to active faults that could affect vehicle stability or driver awareness.
