2002 Volvo V70 2.3L Petrol · AV52 UYK

This Volvo V70 has maintained an exceptionally clean MOT record over the past four tests, with the most recent inspection on April 2, 2026 , at 177,600 miles showing no defects at all. The trend is stable and positive, indicating that the vehicle has passed successive annual tests without any advisories or failures—something rare for a 24-year-old car with this level of mileage. The absence of even minor issues suggests either meticulous maintenance by previous owners or a combination of robust build quality and consistent upkeep. There is no evidence of recurring problems that might signal neglect or mechanical degradation, which would typically appear as repeated advisories for suspension components, brake wear, or corrosion. The mileage accumulation is steady and unremarkable, averaging around 7,400 miles per year —well within typical expectations for a car of this age. The gaps between tests are standard, with the most recent MOT just three months ago, and the mileage increments between inspections (e.g., 1,374 miles between May 2025 and April 2026 ) reflect normal usage without any sudden spikes that might indicate abuse or heavy-duty service. The lack of rapid mileage jumps also reduces concerns about accelerated wear on consumables like tyres, brake pads, or clutch components, though these will still require personal inspection. Given the pristine MOT history, a buyer should still verify a few key areas in person. While the records show no past issues, a comprehensive suspension check —including bushings, coil springs, and ball joints—is prudent, as wear in these components often goes unnoticed until it affects handling. The brake system should be inspected for uneven disc wear, binding calipers, or fluid leaks, even though no past MOTs flagged problems. Structural integrity remains critical; despite the clean history, a thorough check for corrosion in wheel arches, sills, and underbody panels is essential, particularly given the car’s age and exposure to UK road conditions. Finally, fluid levels (brakes, coolant, power steering) and tyre condition —including tread depth and sidewall integrity—should be confirmed, as these are consumables not covered by MOT but vital for ongoing safety.
