A pattern of emerging wear in the suspension and tyre components suggests a vehicle that is beginning to show age-related mechanical degradation despite a generally stable MOT history. While the most recent test on 17 February 2026 resulted in a pass, the introduction of an advisory regarding play in the offside front suspension arm ball joint marks a shift from the clean results seen in 2025. This progression from no defects to specific component wear indicates that while the vehicle has been maintained sufficiently to pass, the consumables and linkage components are now entering a phase of more frequent replacement. The recorded mileage of 66,337 miles over a ten-year period equates to an average annual usage of approximately 6,634 miles, which represents a relatively low-to-moderate driving profile. This consistent, lower-than-average mileage suggests the vehicle has not been subjected to the heavy mechanical strain associated with high-speed motorway commuting or high-frequency urban stop-start cycles. Mechanically, this typically means less wear on the drivetrain and engine components, though it can occasionally result in tyres perishing or cracking due to age rather than tread wear, a trend supported by the advisories recorded in late 2023. Prospective buyers should pay close attention to the front-end steering and suspension geometry during a test drive. The advisory for play in the offside front suspension arm ball joint is a specific point of concern that may manifest as a subtle knocking or clunking sound when driving over uneven road surfaces or speed bumps. You should also monitor the steering for any intermittent pulling to one side or a vague, non-linear feeling through the steering wheel, which could indicate that the ball joint play is increasing or affecting the alignment. Furthermore, the history of tyre advisories involving cracking, perishing, and edge wear necessitates a thorough physical inspection of all four tyres. Even if the tread depth appears sufficient, check the sidewalls for any signs of age-related cracking or perishing to ensure they are not nearing the end of their structural life. Given the recent suspension advisory, it would also be prudent to check for any uneven tyre wear patterns, which can be a secondary symptom of worn suspension bushings or misaligned steering components.
