2013 Land Rover Range Rover 3.0L Diesel · AX51 DAN

Significant mechanical concerns regarding the braking system and suspension components define the recent history of this vehicle, with a trend of increasing defects appearing in the most recent testing cycles. While the vehicle maintained a clean record between 2020 and 2022, the subsequent years have seen failures related to the electronic parking brake and suspension bushings, followed by a dangerous failure in January 2026 involving critically worn rear tyres with exposed cords. The latest test on 08 January 2026 resulted in a pass, but it carries multiple advisories for corroded rear brake pipes and thinning front brake pads, alongside a damaged nearside rear light lens and windscreen damage. The vehicle has covered 99,901 miles over its thirteen-year lifespan, which equates to an average annual accumulation of approximately 7,685 miles. This usage pattern is typical for its age and suggests a moderate level of road use rather than heavy commercial application or prolonged periods of inactivity. From a mechanical perspective, this mileage level means that components such as suspension bushings, brake discs, and tyres are likely entering a phase of significant wear, as evidenced by the specific failures and advisories recorded in the recent MOT history. A prospective buyer should pay close attention to the braking system and the structural integrity of the hydraulic lines. The advisory regarding corroded rear brake pipes covered in grease or other material requires careful inspection; during a test drive, listen for any changes in brake pedal feel or pressure, and check for any sponginess or a lack of consistent stopping power. The thinning front brake pads also necessitate an immediate check of the remaining friction material and an assessment of the brake discs for scoring or uneven wear, which could manifest as a pulsation or judder through the pedal during heavy braking. The suspension and electrical systems also require scrutiny due to previous major failures. Given the 2023 failure involving excessively worn lower suspension arm pins and bushes, a test drive should include navigating uneven road surfaces to listen for knocks, clunks, or creaks emanating from the front end, which would indicate that the previously flagged components have not been adequately addressed or have worn again. Furthermore, the history of electronic parking brake malfunctions means the driver must verify that the system engages and disengages smoothly and that no warning lights remain illuminated on the dashboard during operation.
