2022 Volkswagen Tiguan Life TSI S-A 1.5L Petrol · BA57 TOO

The vehicle most recently passed its MOT on 16 January 2026, indicating a generally stable maintenance trend. The history shows a consistent pass rate without any major mechanical failures or structural concerns, suggesting the car has been kept in a roadworthy condition. The most recent minor defect relates to windscreen damage, which is a superficial issue rather than a mechanical failure, while the remaining advisories are related to interior fittings rather than the vehicle's mechanical integrity. With 46,805 miles recorded over approximately four years, the vehicle has averaged roughly 11,700 miles per annum. This usage rate is considered typical for a family SUV of this age and suggests a balanced duty cycle of mixed urban and motorway driving. This level of mileage means that while the vehicle is not excessively worn, it is approaching the stage where initial consumables and wear-and-tear items will require their first major replacement cycle. Prospective buyers should pay close attention to the braking system, as the January 2025 test highlighted thin nearside rear brake pads and low brake fluid levels. While these were not flagged as failures in the 2026 test, it is essential to verify via service records whether the pads were replaced and the fluid topped up or flushed. During a test drive, listen for any grinding or squealing from the rear brakes and feel for any unevenness or shuddering during deceleration, which could indicate worn pads or binding calipers. Further inspection should focus on the windscreen damage noted in the latest MOT to ensure the chip or crack has not propagated across the driver's field of vision. Given the vehicle's age and mileage, a thorough check of the tyre tread depth and sidewall condition is advised to ensure there is no uneven wear suggesting suspension bush wear or alignment issues. Finally, ensure the service history confirms regular oil and filter changes for the TSI engine and verify the 12V battery health, as the complex electronics in these models can place significant demand on the electrical system.
