2001 DAF CF Heavy oil · BD21 ABU

The 2001 DAF CF demonstrates stable roadworthiness based on its MOT history, with no defects recorded in its most recent 2025 test at 145,698 miles. All prior tests from 2022 to 2024 also passed without issues, indicating consistent maintenance and no emerging mechanical concerns. The absence of advisories or failures across four consecutive annual inspections suggests the vehicle has been well-maintained, with no evidence of recurring faults in critical systems like brakes, suspension, or emissions. The mileage progression reveals a low annual average of approximately 5,828 miles over 25 years, which is significantly below typical usage for a vehicle of this age. The most recent test in 2025 followed a 31,026-mile gap since the 2024 inspection, raising questions about potential periods of inactivity or minimal use. While this could imply reduced wear on consumables like tyres or brake pads, it also increases the risk of component degradation from stagnation, such as corroded brake discs or hardened suspension bushes. The sparse data between 2022 and 2024, with no recorded defects, does not confirm proactive maintenance during this period. A buyer should prioritise an in-person inspection of the vehicle’s underbody for corrosion, particularly around the chassis and exhaust system, given its age. Suspension components, including coil springs and bushes, should be checked for wear or deformation, as low mileage may mask gradual deterioration. Brake systems, including calipers and discs, require scrutiny for binding or uneven wear, as prolonged inactivity can exacerbate these issues. The absence of recorded faults does not eliminate these risks, and physical verification is essential to confirm the vehicle’s structural and mechanical integrity.
