2007 Ford C-MAX 1.8L Petrol · BD57 SVS

The most recent MOT test on 13 February 2023 recorded a failure at 124,369 miles, with no defects listed on the DVSA record. Prior to that, the vehicle failed three times in early 2022 before a pass on 5 February 2022 at 116,677 miles. The maintenance trend is difficult to classify as stable, worsening, or improving because the failure entries carry no recorded defects, yet three failures inside a month followed by a pass suggests administrative or presentation issues at test rather than a clear mechanical progression. The vehicle has not held a valid MOT for over three years as of today, so it is currently unroadworthy by default. The odometer shows 124,369 miles against a 2007 build date, equating to roughly 6,546 miles per year and sitting within typical use for a nineteen year old car. Between the 22 January 2022 failure at 116,585 miles and the 13 February 2023 failure at 124,369 miles, the car covered only 7,784 miles, a low annualised rate that implies light running or periods off the road. The gap from the last test to now exceeds three years, meaning the recorded mileage is stale and the true current figure is unknown. The sparse record gives no advisories on tyres, suspension bushes, brake discs, coil springs, or corrosion, so no recurring fault pattern can be drawn from the data itself. Three failed tests in January and February 2022 with zero defects noted point to either clerical test errors or a vehicle presented without required documents rather than obvious owner neglect of consumables. A buyer should still treat the absence of advisories as meaningless given the lapsed test and arrange a full independent inspection of structural integrity, brake binding, exhaust emissions, and underbody rust before any sale. Given the 2023 failure with no listed defect and the long lapse since, the previous keeper likely left the car unused or failed to re-present it for testing. Without a current pass, the C-Max cannot be legally driven and may have deteriorated through standing. Inspect for flat-spotted tyres, seized calipers, and moisture driven corrosion before committing funds.
