2003 Citroen Berlingo 2.0L Diesel · BT53 UMC

The Citroen Berlingo passed its most recent MOT on 30 June 2026 at 26,475 miles with no defects recorded, confirming a currently sound roadworthiness status. The maintenance trend shows a resolving pattern: earlier faults were minor and consumable-related, and the vehicle has since presented a clean test. This 2003 panel van demonstrates a stable condition over its later life, with no recurring mechanical or structural defects appearing in the supplied record. The mileage pattern reflects exceptionally light use for a 23-year-old vehicle. From the 2016 test at 25,171 miles to the 2026 test at 26,475 miles, the van covered just 1,304 miles across a decade, averaging roughly 130 miles per year. A notable eight-year gap exists between the May 2018 pass and the June 2026 test, with only 566 miles added in that span. Such low annual accumulation and long stationary periods suggest gentle running but also raise the risk of perished rubber, seized components, and corrosion from disuse rather than wear. Historical advisories warrant a focused in-person check before purchase. The May 2017 test flagged near and offside front brake discs worn, pitted or scored, plus near side front tyre sidewall cracking; the May 2018 failure cited a near side front tyre cut to the cords and both wiper blades ineffective. Though cleared by 2026, a buyer should inspect front suspension ball joints, previously noted with slight play in 2016, and examine all tyres for age-related sidewall fatigue given the standing periods. Verify structural integrity beneath the sills and subframes for corrosion induced by inactivity, and confirm brake calipers are not binding after prolonged storage. The clean 2026 result supports the van as mechanically acceptable, but low-mileage Citroens of this era often hide degraded hoses and damp-related faults not captured in a pass.
