2014 Vauxhall Astra 1.6L Petrol · BV64 FJE

The 2014 Vauxhall Astra exhibits a stable roadworthiness trend, with no defects recorded in its last five consecutive MOT tests, including the most recent 2025-08-19 assessment at 52,345 miles. All tests from 2021 to 2025 show consistent passing results, indicating reliable maintenance practices by previous owners. No structural, braking, or emissions-related issues were flagged, suggesting the vehicle has been well-maintained within the scope of mandatory inspections. The car’s mileage of 52,345 miles at 12 years old equates to an average of 4,362 miles annually, significantly below the UK’s typical annual mileage for similar vehicles. This low usage could imply periods of inactivity, which may affect components like suspension bushes or brake calipers through lack of use. Notably, the 2021-08-19 test at 45,766 miles showed a 1,250-mile gap from the prior 2020 test, raising questions about potential storage or infrequent operation during that period. However, the absence of corrosion or mechanical advisories in subsequent tests mitigates immediate concerns. A buyer should physically inspect the underbody for rust, particularly around the chassis and suspension mounts, given the low mileage and potential for stagnant components. Check the brake discs and pads for uneven wear, as prolonged inactivity can cause binding or corrosion. Verify the exhaust system’s integrity, as the last emissions test was over a year ago. While the MOT history shows no critical faults, the extended gap between the 2025 test and today’s date means the vehicle’s current compliance status is unverified.
