2012 Ford Grand C-MAX 2.0L Diesel · CA62 AFU

The 2012 Ford Grand C-Max remains roadworthy based on its most recent MOT on 2022-09-20 at 90,131 miles, which recorded no defects. The maintenance trend shows stability, with no recurring issues flagged in the last three tests. However, the vehicle has not undergone an MOT since 2022, leaving a four-year gap that raises concerns about potential undetected deterioration in components such as suspension bushes, brake discs, or exhaust emissions. The absence of advisories in the latest test suggests the car met basic safety standards at that time, but the prolonged interval since then necessitates a thorough pre-purchase inspection. The mileage of 90,131 miles over 14 years equates to an average of 6,438 miles annually, aligning with typical usage for its age. The MOT records show consistent mileage tracking, with no abrupt spikes or prolonged inactivity indicated. Notably, the 2021-09-16 test recorded a failure at 88,958 miles, yet no defects were listed, which may reflect a data entry error or a minor issue resolved before the subsequent 2021-09-17 pass. The 2020-10-01 test at 84,153 miles and 2019-10-04 test at 73,436 miles both passed without issues, reinforcing a pattern of minimal mechanical faults. A buyer should prioritise inspecting the suspension system for worn bushes or coil springs, as these often degrade over time without immediate warning. Brake components, including calipers and discs, should be checked for corrosion or uneven wear, particularly given the vehicle’s age. Structural integrity, especially around the chassis and body seams, warrants scrutiny to rule out hidden rust or fatigue. While the MOT history lacks major defects, the four-year gap since the last test means critical issues could have emerged, necessitating a professional evaluation before purchase.
