2014 Volkswagen Transporter 2.0L Diesel · CD57 DAN

The most recent MOT for this Volkswagen Transporter was a pass recorded on 10 February 2026. Looking at the recent history, there is a recurring pattern where the vehicle fails a test only to pass a few days later, as seen in both 2025 and 2026. While the specific defects were not recorded in the DVSA data, this sequence typically indicates minor, easily rectifiable issues such as blown bulbs, wiper blade failure, or minor tyre tread depth issues. The overall maintenance trend appears stable, suggesting that the vehicle is being monitored and that any immediate failures are being addressed promptly to maintain roadworthiness. The recorded mileage of 111,831 miles over a twelve-year period equates to an annual average of approximately 9,319 miles. This usage profile is considered typical for a vehicle of this age and type, representing a moderate level of wear on the drivetrain and consumables. It avoids the potential pitfalls of extreme high mileage which can lead to premature component failure, but it is high enough that major service items such as timing belts, water pumps, and suspension components may be approaching the end of their service life or may have recently been replaced. Given the absence of recorded advisories, the inspection should focus on age-related degradation and items not covered by the MOT testing criteria. You should carefully examine the tyres for sidewall cracking or perishing, which can occur as the rubber ages even if the tread depth remains sufficient. During the test drive, listen for any knocks or clunks from the suspension, which could indicate worn bushes or failing coil springs, and check for any brake shudder or pulling to one side, which may suggest warped discs or binding calipers. Furthermore, inspect the vehicle's underside for signs of structural corrosion or excessive exhaust degradation, which is common for a twelve-year-old commercial vehicle. It is essential to verify the service history to ensure that calendar-based maintenance, such as brake fluid and coolant changes, has been performed alongside mileage-based oil changes. Check the condition of the battery and ensure there are no signs of fluid leaks from the engine or gearbox, as these components can degrade over time regardless of the mileage driven.
