2021 Volkswagen Tiguan Active TSI S-A 1.5L Petrol · CL19 AMB

The vehicle most recently passed its MOT on 23 June 2026 with no defects or advisories recorded. Looking at the historical data, the maintenance trend appears to be improving. Previous tests in 2024 and 2025 highlighted concerns regarding brake disc condition and tyre wear, but the absence of these notes in the latest report suggests that the necessary remedial work has been carried out. This indicates a vehicle that is currently meeting the required roadworthiness standards without immediate pending failures. With a recorded mileage of 26,931 miles over approximately five years, this Tiguan has been used significantly less than the UK average, averaging roughly 5,386 miles per year. While low mileage generally implies less mechanical wear on the engine, transmission, and suspension components, it can introduce specific risks associated with under-utilization. Vehicles that spend extended periods stationary are more prone to fluid degradation and the accumulation of surface corrosion on braking components. Despite the clean latest MOT, the history of pitted and scored offside rear brake discs across two consecutive years warrants a physical inspection. You should check for any remaining surface corrosion on the discs and listen for any grinding or shuddering during braking on the test drive, which could indicate that the discs were merely cleaned rather than replaced. Additionally, the 2025 advisory regarding front tyres worn on the edges suggests a potential alignment issue or uneven camber. Inspect the current tyre treads for similar irregular wear patterns, as this may necessitate a professional four-wheel alignment to prevent premature tyre failure. Given the low annual mileage, particular attention should be paid to time-based degradation. Inspect the tyre sidewalls for fine cracking or perishing, as rubber compounds harden over time regardless of tread depth. You should also verify the health of the 12V battery and ensure that the engine oil and other essential fluids have been changed according to the manufacturer's calendar intervals rather than just mileage milestones. Finally, check for any binding calipers or sticking brake pads, which often occur when a vehicle is not driven frequently enough to keep the braking system fully lubricated and clear of debris.
