2007 Vauxhall Antara 2.0L Diesel · CL56 MCC

A 2007 Vauxhall Antara presenting five consecutive clean MOT passes from 2021 through late October 2025 is an encouraging sign of consistent roadworthiness for a vehicle now approaching its twentieth year. With each annual test recording no advisories, no failures, and no defects of any category, the vehicle demonstrates a stable mechanical condition across its most recent testing history. This unbroken run of clean results, culminating in the October 2025 pass, suggests the braking system, suspension assemblies, exhaust, lighting, and structural underbody have all been maintaining acceptable standards without the marginal issues typically flagged on a car of this vintage. For a prospective buyer, the absence of any chronic advisories removes the usual pattern of wear-and-tear warnings that plague older SUVs in this category, though the lack of recorded advisories does mean there is no granular component data to draw upon for predicting imminent service items. Recorded mileage of 107,881 miles against an age of approximately nineteen years equates to an average annual accumulation of roughly 5,678 miles, which is notably low for the vehicle class and age bracket. This conservative usage profile typically results in less wear on high-cycle consumables such as clutch assemblies, engine internals, and drivetrain components, but it can simultaneously accelerate degradation of items that suffer from prolonged standing rather than active use. Brake discs and pads are particularly susceptible to surface corrosion when a vehicle sees only short, infrequent journeys, and rubber components throughout the suspension and drivetrain can harden and perish from underuse. The testing history shows no multi-year gaps, with annual tests consistently recorded from 2021 onwards, confirming the vehicle has remained actively on the road rather than laid up in a garage or off the road during this period. Given that no specific components have been flagged in the MOT record, buyer due diligence should concentrate on the areas most commonly affected on the Antara platform as these vehicles accumulate age rather than mileage. The front suspension subframe and lower control arm bushes are known wear points on this model and should be inspected for perishing, cracking, or movement that could generate knocking sensations over uneven surfaces or during full-lock manoeuvres. The rear coil springs can fracture with age independent of mileage and should be visually examined for any sag or broken coils that might compromise ride height. On a test drive, listen for clonking or creaking from the front end over speed humps and rough tarmac, feel for any vagueness or knocking through the steering wheel, and pay attention to whether the vehicle pulls to either side under braking, which could indicate binding calipers or uneven pad wear. The diesel or petrol engine variants fitted to the Antara should be evaluated for the typical symptoms associated with low annual mileage operation, including a check for excessive crankcase pressure or oil seepage from gaskets and seals that may have hardened over time. Inspect the underfloor and exhaust system thoroughly for any surface rust or corrosion that could compromise long-term integrity, particularly around mounting brackets and the rear silencer section. Verify that the cooling system has been maintained with regular coolant changes, and examine the condition of the auxiliary drive belt and tensioner for any signs of cracking or glazing. Finally, confirm that the tyres are of matching brand, size, and tread depth across both axles, and check the sidewalls for any cracking or UV degradation consistent with age rather than wear, as this would be the most relevant tyre-related concern for a vehicle of this profile.
