2009 Vauxhall Corsa 1.2L Petrol · CP59 FMM

A clean and uninterrupted pass history defines this seventeen-year-old Vauxhall Corsa, with four successive examinations between February 2022 and July 2025 yielding no recorded defects, advisories, or advisories pending follow-up. Such a faultless record over consecutive tests is uncommon for a vehicle of this vintage and points to either very light mechanical wear or consistent remedial attention prior to each annual examination. The most recent assessment on 31 July 2025 confirmed continued roadworthiness with no items flagged, and the absence of any advisory text across the documented period suggests the car has not yet entered the phase where age-related deterioration of consumables and chassis components typically begins to surface during testing. This presents a reassuring baseline, although the absolute absence of advisories can occasionally mask issues that fall just below the failure threshold but are still mechanically relevant. The recorded odometer reading of 58,178 miles against an approximate seventeen-year span equates to an annual accumulation of around 3,400 miles, which sits well beneath the average for a typical Corsa of this generation. Such restrained usage reduces wear on major drivetrain and suspension components, including the clutch, dual-mass components if applicable, brake friction materials, and the coil spring and damper assemblies. However, low-mileage examples of considerable age carry their own considerations: extended periods of stationary operation can encourage moisture ingress within the braking system, oxidation of the rear brake mechanisms, and drying or hardening of the rubber suspension bushes that are protected by movement rather than simply by age. The four MOT entries span roughly three and a half years with relatively even annual progression, showing no suspicious mileage jumps or extended lay-up gaps that might suggest odometer discontinuity or prolonged inactivity between tests. For a prospective buyer, the absence of any flagged components means a thorough physical inspection becomes especially important, as nothing in the MOT history narrows down specific weak points. Particular attention should be paid to the front suspension, where worn lower wishings or anti-roll bar drop links are common failure points on Corsas of this era; any clonks or knocking transmitted through the front wheels over uneven surfaces or speed humps would suggest bush deterioration. The steering should be assessed for any vagueness, excess play, or uneven tyre wear across the front pair, which can indicate worn track rod ends or a fatigued front strut assembly. Brake pedal feel warrants careful evaluation for any excessive travel, sponginess, or judder under light application, given that low-mileage vehicles can suffer from corroded or binding rear brake calipers and glazed friction surfaces where the brakes have seen limited use over many years. Underneath the vehicle, the chassis and subframe mounting points should be inspected for any bubbling corrosion, particularly around the rear axle and suspension pick-up points, as structural rust can develop on a Corsa of this age even when MOT testing has not yet identified a problem. The exhaust system, including the centre pipe and rear silencer, should be checked for signs of corrosion at the mounting rubbers and joints, since replacement is commonly due around this mileage band on older examples. On the road, listen for any irregular engine note, excessive vibration at idle, or hesitation under acceleration, and verify that the cooling system maintains a stable temperature without fluctuation, as ageing coolant hoses and radiators are typical concerns. Given the immaculate test record and modest mileage, a pre-purchase inspection by a competent technician remains advisable to confirm that the mechanical condition aligns with the documented history and to ensure no developing issues have been overlooked.
