2012 Land Rover Discovery 3.0L Diesel · CT12 KXL

The vehicle’s most recent MOT on 2026-02-10 at 194,074 miles recorded a pass, yet the same date shows a failed test with no defects noted, creating ambiguity. Previous tests from 2025-02-12, 2024-02-08, and 2023-02-01 all passed with no defects, indicating a stable maintenance trend over the last three years. However, the conflicting pass/fail result on the latest test raises questions about administrative accuracy or potential unrecorded issues. No recurring mechanical faults or structural concerns are documented in the history, suggesting the car has been maintained to meet legal standards. The vehicle’s mileage of 194,074 miles at 14 years old equates to an average of 13,862 miles annually, significantly above the typical usage for its age. The MOT records show consistent annual mileage increases, with jumps of 19,482 (2023–2024), 24,542 (2024–2025), and 23,048 (2025–2026) miles. This rapid accumulation suggests frequent use, which may accelerate wear on components like suspension bushes, coil springs, and brake discs. The absence of advisories or corrosion reports in the history is notable, but high mileage at this age warrants scrutiny of hidden wear not covered by MOT checks. A buyer should conduct a detailed inspection of the suspension system for worn bushes or sagging coil springs, which are common in high-mileage Land Rovers. The brake system, including calipers and discs, should be checked for uneven wear or binding, as high usage can exacerbate these issues. Structural integrity, particularly around the chassis and body seams, should also be assessed, as corrosion can develop in older vehicles despite passing MOTs. The lack of recorded defects does not eliminate the need for a professional mechanical evaluation to confirm the car’s condition beyond official test data.
