2008 Volkswagen FOX 1.4L Petrol · CX58 WFP

The 2008 Volkswagen Fox presents a stable roadworthiness trend, with the most recent test on 31 August 2022 returning a pass at 53,338 miles and no defects recorded. Prior to that, the vehicle failed on 18 August 2022 at 53,331 miles, yet the failure carried no listed defects, indicating an administrative or unlogged minor issue rather than a mechanical fault. The earlier pass on 18 August 2021 at 48,210 miles also showed a clean sheet. Across the three-year span the record reveals no advisories, no corrosion flags, and no recurring mechanical concerns. At roughly 18 years old the Fox displays exceptionally low use, totalling just 53,338 miles or about 2,963 miles per year. The jump from 48,210 miles in August 2021 to 53,331 miles by August 2022 equals only 5,121 miles in twelve months, confirming light annual running. A gap then exists between the last test in August 2022 and today's date in July 2026, leaving nearly four years of unrecorded mileage and unknown standing time. Sparse entries and zero advisories suggest the prior owner kept basic test compliance but the long silence since 2022 means current condition is unverified. A buyer should physically inspect the Fox for age-related corrosion on sills, subframes, and suspension mounting points, since the MOT history never logged structural integrity checks beyond the test dates. The low standing mileage raises risk of perished rubber components such as suspension bushes, degraded brake hoses, and flat-spotted tyres from prolonged parking. The brake discs and calipers may show surface rust or binding after the extended lay-up. Given the clean but dated record, commission an independent inspection before purchase. Verify the actual odometer against the 53,338-mile figure and confirm no undeclared mileage has accrued since the 2022 test lapsed.
