1987 Bedford 1.0L Petrol · D694 FWS

The Bedford passed its most recent MOT on 27 October 2022 at 87,918 miles with no defects recorded, and the maintenance trend across the available history reads as stable with no recurring advisories or failures tied to mechanical condition. The only blemish is a failed test on 10 October 2022 at the same 87,918 miles, where the tester logged no defects; this points to a non-mechanical cause such as a documentation or identification issue rather than wear, and the vehicle cleared twelve days later. The recorded mileage shows very light use for a 39-year-old vehicle. It rose just 44 miles between the 16 July 2021 test at 87,874 miles and the October 2022 tests at 87,918 miles, an average of roughly 2,254 miles per year across its life. Such low accumulation suggests long periods of standing or occasional running, which on a 1987 chassis carries its own risks distinct from high-mileage wear. The sparse record gives no flagged suspension bushes, brake discs, coil springs, or structural corrosion to chase. A buyer should still inspect the underbody and chassis rails closely for rust, as a Bedford of this age with intermittent use often hides moisture damage where the MOT did not record it. Check brake calipers for binding after storage and verify tyres are not perished from age rather than tread loss. Given the clean pass and minimal mileages, previous keepers appear to have stored the vehicle rather than neglected running repairs. Confirm the 2022 failure cause in person and commission a pre-purchase inspection before relying on the sparse MOT as proof of roadworthiness.
