2022 Jaguar I-Pace Black Electric · D8 VVH

The most recent DVSA examination carried out on 28 November 2025 returned a pass with no defects, advisories, or minor issues recorded against the vehicle. With only this single recorded MOT test in the history file, it is difficult to establish a longitudinal maintenance trend, but the clean outcome is encouraging and suggests that the vehicle was in sound mechanical condition at the time of testing. Because Jaguar I-PACE models of this age can occasionally present advisories related to tyre wear, brake disc corrosion from regenerative braking systems, or underbody surface corrosion, the absence of any such notes is a positive indicator of careful ownership or recent remedial work. At four years of age, 26,126 recorded miles equates to an annual average of approximately 6,532 miles, which sits squarely within the typical usage range for a premium electric SUV of this type. There are no apparent gaps in the recorded mileage that would suggest prolonged periods of standing, nor any indications of unusually rapid accumulation that would point to heavy commercial or motorway use. This moderate mileage profile is generally favourable for an electric vehicle, as it suggests the high-voltage battery pack, drive units, and associated cooling systems have seen regular but not excessive use, which is beneficial for long-term component health and state of retention. Given the clean MOT record and the inherent characteristics of a battery electric vehicle, a prospective buyer should focus their inspection on areas not directly covered by the standard MOT regime. The 12-volt auxiliary battery is a known service item on the I-PACE and can degrade with both age and use; it is prudent to confirm its state of health and recent replacement history, as failure of this unit can render the vehicle inoperative even when the main traction battery is fully charged. Tyres should be examined closely for sidewall perishing or cracking due to age rather than tread wear, as premium EV-specific tyres can suffer polymer degradation after four years regardless of remaining tread depth. The high-voltage battery warranty and state of health certificate should be verified, along with evidence that the vehicle has received its recommended Jaguar software updates, which can affect thermal management, regenerative braking behaviour, and overall drivetrain efficiency. On a physical inspection, attention should also be directed to the underbody and suspension components for any signs of standing corrosion on brake discs, particularly given that the regenerative braking system can lead to surface oxidation on the friction surfaces if the vehicle has been driven predominantly in urban conditions. Brake calipers should be checked for binding, and the discs examined for lipping or pitting, listening during a test drive for any scraping, grinding, or uneven retardation when the mechanical brakes are applied at lower speeds. All door seals, bonnet struts, and tailgate mechanisms should be checked for correct operation, as these can deteriorate on vehicles that have stood unused. Finally, confirm that the charging cable and in-cable control box are present and functional, and ensure that the air conditioning system, which is essential for battery thermal management, is blowing cold and operating without fault, as compressor or refrigerant issues are known concerns on vehicles of this age and can indirectly affect long-term traction battery longevity.
