2005 Land Rover Freelander 2.0L Diesel · DA05 PYJ

The 2005 Land Rover Freelander presents a stable mechanical trend, culminating in a clean pass on 3 December 2025 at 107,746 miles. The most recent test recorded no defects, indicating the vehicle meets current roadworthiness standards. However, the history contains two anomalous failures on 3 November 2025 and 25 November 2024, both recorded with zero defects. This suggests either abandoned tests, administrative errors, or pre-test refusals rather than mechanical failures, yet the lack of recorded faults makes the exact cause impossible to determine from the data alone. Accumulating roughly 107,746 miles over twenty-one years equates to an annual average of approximately 5,131 miles, confirming exceptionally light usage. The mileage progression remains highly consistent, stepping from 102,143 miles in November 2023 to 104,816 miles in November 2024, and reaching 107,583 miles by November 2025. This reflects a steady accumulation of around 2,700 miles per year. Such low mileage typically spares drivetrain and suspension consumables from excessive wear, though prolonged periods of standing can introduce its own issues, such as perished rubber components or brake disc corrosion. Despite the clean recent pass, a physical inspection remains essential given the vehicle's age and the Land Rover Freelander's known vulnerabilities. Buyers should thoroughly inspect the chassis and subframes for structural corrosion, a common affliction for off-roaders of this era. Suspension bushes and coil springs require close scrutiny, as low-mileage vehicles often suffer from dry rot and cracking rather than wear. The braking system demands particular attention; the unexplained failures in late 2024 and late 2025 warrant checking for binding calipers, seized handbrake mechanisms, and heavily corroded brake discs that can develop when a car sits idle. A thorough underbody examination will verify whether this low-mileage example has been preserved by gentle use or neglected through long periods of inactivity.
