2023 Volkswagen ID3 Family Electricity · DF72 OUY

A clean, defect-free MOT record across both tests presents a reassuring picture of roadworthiness for this Volkswagen ID.3. The vehicle passed on 26 March 2026 with no advisories or failures recorded, following an equally clean pass on 24 March 2025. With only two tests on file and no items flagged for attention either time, there is no historical pattern of component wear, corrosion, or developing faults to raise immediate concern. This is consistent with the early life of a relatively modern electric vehicle, where major mechanical degradation typically has not yet had sufficient time or use to manifest at test. The recorded mileage of 16,741 miles over approximately three years equates to an annual accumulation of around 5,580 miles, which is notably below average for the vehicle's age bracket. This lighter usage profile carries specific mechanical implications for an electric platform such as the ID.3. Reduced mileage generally means less wear on suspension components, braking systems, and tyres, but it also raises the possibility of extended periods of standing, which can affect 12V auxiliary battery health, brake disc surface corrosion from infrequent use, and the condition of rubber seals and bushes that benefit from regular movement. The consistency of the mileage between tests suggests steady, modest use rather than long-term storage or sudden heavy utilisation. For a prospective buyer, the absence of any component-specific advisories means there are no flagged items to investigate further from the MOT history alone. A thorough test drive should nonetheless focus on the areas most likely to be affected by the mileage profile. When driving, listen carefully for any clonks or knocks from the suspension over uneven surfaces, particularly from the front MacPherson struts and rear multi-link assemblies, as these are common wear points even at modest mileages. Pay attention to brake pedal feel, checking for judder or pulsing under gentle application that could indicate light corrosion on the discs from infrequent use, and confirm that the regenerative braking system is functioning smoothly without warning lights on the dashboard. A visual inspection should also accompany the road test. Examine the underside of the vehicle for any signs of impact damage to the underfloor battery protection panels, check the condition and age of the tyres for uneven wear patterns that might suggest alignment or suspension issues, and verify that the high-voltage charging port and cable show no signs of damage or corrosion. Inspect the brake discs visually for any surface rust that has not cleared after recent driving, as excessive pitting could indicate the need for refurbishment. Finally, confirm that the 12V auxiliary battery is holding charge reliably by testing all electrical systems during a cold start, as a weak auxiliary battery is one of the most common issues on lightly used electric vehicles and can cause a range of seemingly unrelated electrical faults.
