2015 Vauxhall Vivaro 1.6L Diesel · DP65 XUJ

The Vauxhall Vivaro in question presents a clean MOT history over the past three years, with the most recent test on 21 October 2025 at 120,880 miles passing without any defects. This consistency suggests stable mechanical condition, though the isolated failure on 21 October 2024—recorded at just 115,827 miles—raises minor curiosity, as no defects were logged to explain it. The absence of advisories or recurring faults in the three passed tests indicates no obvious neglect of critical components like brakes, suspension, or structural integrity. That said, the lack of detailed test reports means potential issues such as worn suspension bushes, degraded coil springs, or early-stage corrosion could have been overlooked if not actively checked by previous owners. The vehicle’s mileage accumulation aligns closely with typical usage for its age, averaging around 10,989 miles per year over the past decade. The gap between the 2022 and 2023 tests (103,414 to 110,217 miles) suggests a roughly 6,800-mile annual run, while the jump from 110,217 to 115,842 miles in 2024 indicates a slight uptick. The rapid mileage increase between the failed and passed tests in October 2024—just 15 miles apart—could imply either a brief but intensive usage period or a clerical anomaly. No extreme mileage spikes or prolonged inactivity are evident, which generally points to steady, if not particularly heavy, service. For a prospective buyer, the absence of recorded defects does not eliminate the need for a thorough pre-purchase inspection. Key areas to scrutinise include the suspension—particularly the front strut mounts, rear trailing arm bushes, and coil springs—for signs of wear or oil leakage, which can compromise handling. The braking system should be checked for uneven pad thickness, binding calipers, or glazed discs, as these are common failure points in commercial vans. Structural corrosion, especially around wheel arches, sills, and exhaust mounts, should be examined closely, given the vehicle’s age and the potential for moisture ingress in a working environment. While the MOT history is reassuring, a detailed inspection of these high-wear components will confirm whether the Vivaro has been maintained beyond the minimum legal requirements.
