2017 Vauxhall Astra 1.4L Petrol · DS17 AEE

The vehicle is currently roadworthy following its 2025-05-31 MOT at 69,176 miles, with no defects recorded. However, the history reveals instability, including a 2025-05-27 failure at 69,142 miles and a 2023-07-19 failure at 64,460 miles, both without recorded defects. While the latest test indicates resolution, the recurring failures suggest potential underlying issues that may require closer scrutiny, particularly if the same problems resurfaced. The absence of specific defect details limits definitive conclusions but underscores the need for a physical inspection. The mileage of 69,176 miles aligns with an average annual usage of 7,686 miles, consistent with typical 9-year-old vehicles. Test intervals are regular, with no prolonged gaps exceeding 12 months. The 2023-07-19 tests at 64,460–64,465 miles and the 2024-05-29 test at 67,567 miles show steady progression, while the 2025-05 tests occurred within a four-day span, raising questions about potential administrative errors or rushed retesting. Overall, the mileage pattern reflects moderate use without abrupt spikes or extended inactivity. A buyer should prioritise inspecting the suspension system for worn bushes or coil springs, as recurring MOT failures may hint at unresolved mechanical stress. Brake components, including calipers and discs, warrant attention given their critical role in safety, though no specific issues were noted. Structural integrity should also be verified, as rust or corrosion could affect long-term reliability. The lack of defect details in the MOT records means physical examination remains essential to confirm the vehicle’s condition beyond documented tests.
