2016 Vauxhall Astra 1.0L Petrol · DS66 HVT

The 2016 Vauxhall Astra demonstrates consistent roadworthiness, with all five MOT tests from 2022 to 2026 recording no defects. The most recent March 2026 test at 56,354 miles confirmed compliance, indicating a stable maintenance trend. No recurring issues or structural concerns were flagged across the history, suggesting the vehicle has been well-maintained within the parameters of its low annual mileage. The mileage progression aligns with a decade-old vehicle but reflects below-average usage, averaging 5,635 miles annually. The 2023 test at 36,413 miles marked a significant 11,959-mile gap from the prior 2022 test, potentially indicating periods of inactivity. Subsequent tests show gradual accumulation, with 3,738 miles between 2024 and 2025, and 4,244 miles between 2025 and 2026. This pattern suggests intermittent use, which may affect components like suspension bushes, coil springs, and brake systems if not regularly exercised. A buyer should inspect the suspension for dry joints or worn bushes, as low mileage can lead to stiffness. Brake components, including calipers and discs, should be checked for corrosion or binding, particularly if the vehicle has been stationary for extended periods. Visual examination of the chassis for rust is also advised, as low-mileage vehicles may develop hidden corrosion in unexposed areas. The absence of advisories in the MOT record supports the car’s mechanical integrity but does not eliminate the need for a physical inspection of these specific elements.
