2003 Ford Mondeo 1.8L Petrol · EA03 WCZ

The vehicle presents a stable roadworthiness profile, though the history indicates a pattern of reactive maintenance. The most recent test on August 2, 2023 at 151,587 miles resulted in a failure with no recorded defects, suggesting the vehicle did not meet standards during that specific inspection. This follows a clean pass in August 2022 and a narrow failure just two days prior, indicating that while the car remains operational, it requires consistent attention to ensure it passes the annual testing requirements. The mileage accumulation is consistent with a 23-year-old vehicle, averaging approximately 6,600 miles per annum. Between November 2020 and August 2023, the car covered 13,445 miles, showing steady but low-impact usage. The gap between the August 2022 and August 2023 tests shows a standard annual interval with 3,768 miles driven. This low mileage generally reduces wear on the drivetrain but can increase the likelihood of rubber-based components degrading and corrosion due to age rather than use. Given the lack of specific recorded advisories, a physical inspection must focus on the structural integrity of the chassis and the condition of the suspension. Older Ford Mondeos of this era are prone to corrosion on the rear subframe and sills, which the MOT tester may not always highlight until they become significant. The buyer should also check for perished suspension bushes and leaking shock absorbers, as low-mileage vehicles often suffer from components hardening over time. Brake components should be examined for binding calipers or excessive disc pitting, as the record does not provide detail on the state of these consumables items.
