2014 Volkswagen Touareg 3.0L Diesel · ED14 MLR

A consistent history of passing MOT tests characterizes this vehicle, with the most recent clean pass on 2026-05-26 following a period of sporadic, age-related advisories. While the record shows a stable trend of roadworthiness, the appearance of corrosion and component wear in the 2020, 2024, and 2025 tests suggests the onset of typical degradation for a vehicle of this vintage. The recorded mileage of 73,228 miles over approximately 12 years equates to an average of roughly 6,102 miles per year. This usage pattern is typical for its age, indicating a balanced distribution of wear across the drivetrain and chassis. Such mileage suggests that while the vehicle has avoided the extreme wear associated with high-mileage motorway use, it has not suffered from the stagnation risks often found in very low-mileage examples. Attention should be paid to the specific components flagged in previous years to ensure they have been rectified. The 2025 advisory regarding corroded fuel tank straps and the 2020 note on a corroded offside rear coil spring highlight a susceptibility to surface and structural corrosion. During a physical inspection, the underside should be checked for further oxidation of mounting brackets and suspension components, and the rear ride height should be verified for symmetry to ensure the coil spring was replaced. The 2024 advisory for a noisy offside front wheel bearing requires verification during the test drive. Listen for a rhythmic humming or droning sound that changes in pitch when steering slightly from side to side at speed. Additionally, ensure there is no vibration through the steering wheel or pedal judder, as these can be indicators of bearing failure or brake disc wear that may not have been flagged in the most recent clean test.
