The most recent MOT test on 2026-05-12 resulted in a PASS with several advisories regarding the nearside front inner tyre showing signs of cracking or perishing sidewall, as well as multiple rear tyres with similar concerns. These recurring issues suggest a pattern of wear that could affect structural integrity and handling stability over time. The advisory nature of these findings indicates that while the vehicle has met the regulatory standards, there are clear areas of concern that warrant close inspection during the test drive. It is important to note that the tyre sidewalls are deteriorating, which could lead to reduced tread life and increased risk of blowouts under load. The recorded mileage of 33,577 miles places the vehicle in the upper end of the recommended service interval for its age, which is approximately 1,526 miles per year. This level of usage, especially when combined with the observed tyre wear, points to a higher likelihood of accelerated component fatigue. The vehicle’s age combined with this mileage suggests that the suspension, brakes, and electrical systems may be under greater stress than they should be. Buyers should be particularly vigilant for signs of worn suspension bushings, corroded or binding calipers, and any unusual braking behaviour during the inspection. Given the clean nature of the MOT history overall, the buyer should focus on practical checks appropriate for a 22-year-old vehicle. Inspect the tyres for sidewall cracking or perishing, listen for any clunking noises from the suspension, and verify that the brakes respond smoothly without shuddering. The 12V battery should be tested for health, and fluid levels in the cooling system should be confirmed. Additionally, checking service book stamps for regular maintenance intervals will help determine if the vehicle has been properly serviced. These steps are crucial to ensure the car remains roadworthy and safe for long-term use.
