2005 Ford Focus 1.6L Petrol · EO05 DHL

The vehicle presents a stable roadworthiness profile with a consistent maintenance record over the last five years. The most recent test on 25 November 2023 at 85,006 miles resulted in a pass with no recorded defects, following a failure just ten days prior at the same mileage. This specific sequence suggests a minor component failure or a sensor-related issue that was rectified immediately before the re-test, rather than a trend of mechanical decline or structural degradation. The mileage pattern is exceptionally low for a 21-year-old vehicle, averaging approximately 4,000 miles per year. Between September 2019 at 78,224 miles and November 2023 at 85,006 miles, the car covered only 6,782 miles. This indicates the vehicle has been used sparingly or may have sat stationary for extended periods. While low mileage reduces wear on drivetrain components and engine internals, it often leads to the degradation of rubber-based parts such as seals, bushes, and tyres which age regardless of active use. A buyer should focus their physical inspection on the structural integrity of the chassis and suspension points, as the age of the vehicle makes it prone to corrosion that the MOT may not yet flag. Inspect the rear subframe and suspension bushes for cracking or perishation caused by low usage. Given the long intervals between tests, verify the brake system for seized calipers or corroded discs, as infrequently driven cars frequently suffer from surface rust and internal hydraulic issues.
