2007 Piaggio Vespa 0.1L Petrol · EU07 AOH

The most recent MOT test on 25 October 2024 at 25,160 miles ended in a pass with no defects recorded. That clean result follows two earlier passes, from 26 October 2021 and 6 March 2023, both also with no advisories. The recorded maintenance trend is therefore stable and consistently positive, with no repeated or emerging faults listed across the three-year period of history supplied. The mileage pattern fits a lightly used machine. At roughly 1,324 miles per year for a 19-year-old scooter, the figures are low. The gaps between tests tell a similar story. Between 26 October 2021 at 24,746 miles and 6 March 2023 at 24,802 miles, the Vespa covered only 56 miles in about sixteen months. The next interval, from March 2023 to October 2024, added just 358 miles over roughly nineteen months. That level of usage points to occasional short outings or extended periods of standing rather than regular daily running. Long idle periods can cause perished rubber seals, flat-spotted tyres, and corrosion on brake components, so the low mileage alone does not guarantee an easy future. Because no test has ever flagged a defect or advisory, there is no recurring mechanical or structural trend to investigate. Still, an MOT pass does not cover everything. A pre-purchase inspection should focus on age-related deterioration: perished hoses, cracked suspension bushes, corrosion on the frame or exhaust, and brake calipers that may bind or stick after long spells off the road. The tyres may look unworn but could be old enough to have hardened, so check their date codes. Also verify that the scooter received routine servicing by time rather than mileage, especially brake fluid and engine oil changes. The clean MOT record is a positive sign, but a 2007 machine with this history still warrants a close hands-on look before purchase.
