2008 MINI 1.4L Petrol · EY58 XUW

The vehicle’s most recent MOT on 2024-04-15 at 143,051 miles resulted in a failure, though no defects were recorded. This suggests either an incomplete test or a technicality, as no issues were flagged. Previous tests from 2023 and 2022 show consistent passing with no defects, indicating a stable maintenance history until the 2024 failure. The lack of recorded faults in earlier tests implies the car was well-maintained up to that point, but the recent failure raises concerns about potential undetected issues requiring immediate attention. The vehicle’s mileage of 143,051 miles over 18 years equates to roughly 7,947 miles annually, aligning with typical usage for its age. However, a notable gap exists between the 2021-04-16 test (83,845 miles) and the 2022-04-12 test (84,990 miles), suggesting minimal usage or possible data inaccuracies. The 2022-04-09 failure at the same mileage as the subsequent pass on 2022-04-12 indicates a rapid resolution, though the absence of defect details limits insight into the root cause. Overall, the mileage pattern shows no extreme wear, but the 2024 failure disrupts the prior stability. A buyer should prioritize inspecting the braking system, as repeated MOTs without defects may mask gradual wear. Suspension components, including coil springs and bushes, warrant scrutiny given the vehicle’s age. The exhaust system and body corrosion should also be checked, as these are common failure points in older vehicles. The 2024 failure, though unexplained, underscores the need for a thorough pre-purchase inspection to identify any latent issues not captured in the MOT records.
