1991 Mazda MX5 1.6L Petrol · FFZ 8097

The most recent MOT entry is from 23 January 2022, when the MX‑5 passed at 93,476 miles. That test is now more than four years old, so the car has not had an MOT since early 2022. The record shows a back‑and‑forth of passes and fails between 2020 and 2022, but each failure lists “no defects recorded”. This suggests either an administrative issue or a problem that was not captured on the test sheet; there is no concrete evidence of a specific fault worsening over time. Because the mileage is only about 2,670 miles per year, the car has been driven very lightly for a 35‑year‑old vehicle. Low mileage can mean less wear on the engine, transmission and brakes, but it can also indicate long periods of storage, during which rubber seals, hoses and suspension bushings may have aged or dried out. The data does not allow a firm conclusion about whether the car has been hard‑used or under‑used; the mileage signal is ambiguous. Overall the trend appears stable – no recorded defects have been flagged, and the last MOT was a pass. However, the lack of a recent MOT and the unexplained failures mean a buyer should treat the vehicle as potentially having latent issues that were not documented. When inspecting the car, the buyer should: - Verify that the vehicle now has a valid MOT or arrange an up‑to‑date test.
