2002 Honda Civic 1.4L Petrol · FG03 HND

The vehicle presents a stable roadworthiness status based on the most recent MOT test data. The last recorded test conducted on April 24 2023 at 107,990 miles resulted in a pass with no recorded defects, following a failure on the same day that likely involved a minor item immediately rectified by the owner. Since that test over three years ago as of June 2026, the vehicle is currently out of date with a valid MOT certificate, which introduces significant uncertainty regarding the current state of its safety-critical components despite the previous clean record. The mileage profile is notably low for a 24-year-old vehicle, averaging approximately 4,500 miles per year. Between January 2021 and February 2022, the car covered 10,311 miles, yet it covered only 11,489 miles between the February 2022 and April 2023 tests. While low mileage generally reduces wear on the drivetrain and engine internals, the long periods of inactivity can lead to the degradation of rubber components, seals, and fluid chemistry which are not reflected in the odometer reading. A buyer must prioritise a physical inspection of the chassis and suspension system due to the age of the vehicle and the low usage pattern. Older Honda Civics often suffer from structural corrosion and perished suspension bushes that do not manifest through mileage. You should specifically check the brake system for seized calipers or rusted discs caused by lack of use and verify the condition of the tyres for age cracking. Given that the MOT is three years lapsed, a comprehensive mechanical survey is essential to ensure that no significant structural failures have developed since the last official inspection.
