2012 Toyota Avensis 1.8L Petrol · FL12 HCY

A consistent record of roadworthiness defines this vehicle, with a trend of clean test results over the last several years. The most recent inspection on 31 March 2026 resulted in a pass with no defects recorded, continuing a streak of four consecutive clear tests dating back to 2023. This indicates a stable mechanical state regarding the specific components and safety systems evaluated during the annual MOT process. The recorded mileage of 106,455 miles over a fourteen year period averages approximately 7,604 miles per year, which is typical for a vehicle of this age. This level of usage implies a standard rate of wear on drivetrain components, suspension bushes, and braking systems, without the extreme wear associated with high-mileage fleet use or the potential degradation often seen in vehicles that have spent prolonged periods stationary. Attention should be directed toward the rear suspension, specifically the offside rear shock absorber, which was flagged for light oil misting during the March 2022 test. Although this advisory did not reappear in subsequent tests, including the 2026 inspection, it remains a point of interest for a physical check. During a test drive, the buyer should feel for excessive bouncing or instability at the rear of the vehicle when traversing uneven surfaces. A visual inspection of the rear dampers is recommended to ensure no active leaks are present and that the shock absorbers are not leaking fluid onto the surrounding chassis components. While the recent record is relatively clean, the buyer should still listen for any knocks or clunks from the suspension linkages over speed bumps, as these components are subject to standard wear at this mileage regardless of the MOT outcome.
