2012 Vauxhall Astra 1.7L Diesel · FL12 YNJ

The Vauxhall Astra presents as roadworthy with a stable maintenance trend. The most recent test on 23 February 2026 at 137,629 miles returned a pass with no defects recorded, and the four preceding annual tests from March 2023 to February 2025 also passed cleanly. No advisories or mechanical faults appear anywhere in the DVSA history, indicating the vehicle has not shown worsening wear or recurring defects over the observed period. Annual mileage sits at roughly 9,800 miles, typical for a 14-year-old car of this class. The records show steady accumulation: 80,653 miles in March 2023, 90,861 in March 2024, 115,279 in February 2025, and 137,629 by February 2026. A minor anomaly appears in early March 2023 when the car failed on 6 March at 80,422 miles yet passed three days later at 80,653 miles with no defects listed, suggesting the initial failure was administrative or a tester error rather than a genuine fault. The clean sweep of passes implies previous owners kept basic upkeep current. Given the absence of flagged suspension bushes, brake discs, coil springs, or corrosion entries, the MOT record alone raises no red flags on structural integrity or drivetrain condition. A buyer should still commission an independent inspection of underbody corrosion, suspension arm bushes, and brake caliper operation, as these items degrade with age and may not yet breach MOT thresholds at 137,629 miles. The sparse but clean history points to a lightly troubled ownership pattern, though high-mileage Vauxhall Astras of this era commonly develop worn drop links and exhaust rust by now. Verify service invoices to confirm consumables such as timing belt and coolant were renewed outside the MOT scope.
