2007 Volkswagen Jetta 2.0L Diesel · FP07 EZR

The maintenance trend for this 2007 Volkswagen Jetta is currently worsening, culminating in a failed MOT on 2 November 2024 at 161,170 miles. The record shows a pass in July 2023 at 153,880 miles, but the most recent test resulted in a failure. Critically, the DVSA record for this failure lists no specific defects, which is highly irregular and suggests either a dangerous defect noted outside the standard coding or an administrative anomaly. Regardless of the missing data, the vehicle has remained unroadworthy since that test, with no subsequent pass recorded as of today, 8 July 2026. The mileage accumulation aligns closely with the national average for a vehicle of this age. Between the July 2022 pass at 145,035 miles and the July 2023 test at 153,880 miles, the Jetta covered 8,845 miles. The subsequent period up to the November 2024 failure at 161,170 miles saw a further 7,290 miles added over roughly sixteen months. This steady, typical usage pattern indicates the car was driven regularly rather than sitting idle for long stretches, which rules out prolonged standing as a primary cause of deterioration. A buyer must approach this vehicle with extreme caution due to the unexplained failure and the lengthy gap without a valid MOT. Because the tester flagged the car as unroadworthy without logging a specific defect, a thorough physical inspection is mandatory. Focus heavily on structural integrity, particularly the sills, floor pan, and suspension mounting points, as corrosion often triggers immediate failures on older German saloons. Inspect the braking system for binding calipers or excessively worn discs, and check the condition of the coil springs and suspension bushes. The exhaust emissions require careful scrutiny, as a failure here can sometimes be recorded without a detailed defect code if the tester deems the vehicle unroadworthy on the spot. Verify the exact reason for the 2024 failure before committing to any purchase.
